Study day - The case of Mandarin foreign language

Study day
December 11, 2015 - December 12, 2015
Teaching/learning distant languages for the Lansad public: The case of Mandarin as a foreign language.
Among the six languages included in the IDEFI Innovalangues contract, Mandarin is a foreign language and continues its process of dissemination and institutionalization at the University in France. The learning audience has expanded to include non-specialists, to the point where it is now the majority profile in higher education institutions. Another unique feature for the didactics of this language lies in the heterogeneisation of this public: learners continuing their high school, academic and international mobility etc... Former rare language on the advanced path of democratization, it remains an institutionally young language, linguistically much more distant than others. These elements of context make the task of the dispersed and often isolated teaching community, on the one hand, and the experience of learners with increasingly diverse motivations and objectives, on the other, particularly difficult.

With almost constant human resources and schedules, the hybridization of courses and exposure to the target language through ICT open up very promising prospects in the field of foreign language Mandarin didactics: the teacher can also become a tutor, Path designer and community actor who requires tools to exchange and build a skills approach and assess the progress of these skills. In the wake of recent or ongoing projects and initiatives such as EBCL (European Benchmarking for Chinese Language), the certification test from a communicative perspective DCL (Diploma of Competence in Language) Mandarin, or research work conducted for other distant languages such as the Japanese Standard of the Japan Foundation, these study days propose to exchange on the themes of progression and empowerment of the LANSAD public in distant languages.

On the first day, after an institutional, theoretical and methodological contextualization, a discussion based on the work in progress will bring together all the participants.
On the second day, the discussion will continue with presentations by invited participants.
